Hilary Symmans
Body Control Pilates qualified teacher
( Register of Exercise Professionals Level 3 teacher)
Hilary qualified as a Pilates teacher with the Body Control Pilates Association in 2000. She was originally introduced to Plates when she suffered severe back problems, and found it to be so beneficial that she trained to teach. After qualifying to teach the matwork, she then completed further training with Helge Fisher who was one of the co-founders of the Body Control Pilates Association, and qualified to teach on the specialised studio equipment in 2002.
Hilary went onto open a successful studio in Portsmouth and also spent 2 years in Innsbruck teaching Pilates to dancers and physiotherapists. Hilary has now moved back to the Island and is teaching matwork classes in various parts of the Island and also teaching 1:1 sessions at Cowes Chiropractic Clinic.
She attends regular courses and workshops to keep updated with her training and develop herself as a teacher. Hilary is very passionate about the Pilates Method and how it can help people move more freely in their day to day lives.

About Pilates
Targets the deep postural muscles, building strength from the inside out, rebalancing the body and addressing faulty movement patterns. If you want to be free from aches and pains, improve your posture, tone up, move more freely, or just increase your fitness levels, then Pilates sessions are for you.
If you are new to Pilates, then a private session will enable you to be guided through the basic principle of Pilates, including breathing, correct alignment and the proper recruitment of your core muscles. During your session your movement patterns and posture will be assessed, and you will be introduced progressively to different exercises, so you will have an individual programme suited to your needs. You will receive personal correction and attention to help you achieve improved movement patterns.
Even if you are already attending regular matclasses, then having an occasional private session is helpful. It can help increase your understanding of the matwork.
If you are shy or nervous about coming along for a session, then why not share with a friend or your partner?
